Minnesota And South Dakota In Top 5 Best States To Retire In 2025

WalletHub’s 2025 rankings of the best and worst states to retire in revealed some interesting results. The study assessed states based on affordability, quality of life, and healthcare, using 46 weighted metrics.

Florida secured the No. 1 spot thanks to its strong affordability and quality of life, despite only an average healthcare ranking. Minnesota’s unexpected rise to No. 2 was fueled by its top-rated healthcare system, abundant facilities, and solid quality of life.

Rounding out the top five were Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota, adding a Western twist to the list.

On the flip side, Kentucky landed at the bottom due to low scores in healthcare and quality of life.
