About Carissa

Carissa practices in estate planning, business planning, and elder law planning, working closely with individuals and families to create tailored plans that support their goals and long-term wellbeing. With a relationship focused approach, she helps clients navigate important decisions and prepare confidently for the future.

A lifelong resident of the Sioux Falls area, Carissa grew up in Brandon, South Dakota, and continues to draw inspiration from the community she calls home. She earned her Juris Doctor and Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communication from the University of South Dakota, where she remains an enthusiastic supporter of the Coyotes. Prior to going to law school, Carissa worked as a business analyst for a Sioux Falls tech company. While there, she led law enforcement agencies across the country through the process of implementing new CAD, jail, records, financial, and civil software. In law school, Carissa was selected for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board and was later voted to serve as its Vice President. She competed in national competitions with her classmates to hone her mediation and arbitration skills in real life environments. Following her admission to the South Dakota bar, Carissa’s practice has focused on estate planning and business transactional work.

Carissa and her husband live in Sioux Falls with their dog and two cats. They enjoy traveling across the country, cheering on USD, and bringing new life to their 1970s home.
