About Jessica

As the firm’s Medicaid Coordinator, my focus is guiding clients through the often complex Medicaid process of applying for Medicaid benefits and helping ensure clients get quality of care while protecting their assets. Admitting a loved one to a care facility can be just as emotionally taxing on the family as it is on the individual, so my goal is to make that transition as smooth and stress-free as I can. I try to bring compassion and work closely with clients to preserve dignity and have access to quality care, especially during life’s most challenging transitions.

My love for spending time with and helping elderly individuals started when I was little. You could usually find me at my grandma’s house, playing Skip-Bo, baking apple dumplings, and watching Sister Act. When she eventually moved into a memory care unit, our fun didn’t stop — honestly, the place never stood a chance. Her friends became mine, and we kept our shenanigans going right up until she passed. Whether they liked me for my company or for the broasted chicken I brought them every Tuesday ... well, that’s up for debate.

After college, I turned that passion into a career, starting in Social Services at a Long-Term Care facility here in Sioux Falls. I later joined the State of South Dakota as a Long-Term Care Benefits Specialist, continuing to support our senior population — but from a more financially focused perspective. In my 10+ years with the State, I’ve seen just about every financial scenario imaginable. If it’s an unusual case, there’s a good chance I’ve handled it — and I always approach it with a Medicaid lens.
